Like many of us, when Karly finished school she didn’t know what she wanted to do. With no idea what career would suit her or what direction to go in, she found herself with the opportunity to complete an intermediate apprenticeship at Mitie in Facilities Services, implemented and delivered by Jigsaw Training.
As Karly puts it: “As a Mitie apprentice you get to witness first-hand what it’s like to work in various environments within facilities management, while getting paid and achieving a qualification at the same time.”
Karly is well aware of the benefits of doing an apprenticeship, saying that it made her more appealing to an employer, as you’ve spent time learning the trade. The experience was crucial for Karly, not only in developing the skills, but increasing her confidence to be successful in her role at Mitie.
Karly says: “I went from being a 16-year-old with no direction and not knowing what I wanted to do, to being in a full time post as Contract Support Administrator that I really enjoy on a very competitive rate of pay. It’s all thanks to the apprenticeship scheme.”
