Fun at 50
Fun at 50!
So Melanie did have a drop of Bubbly on her Birthday, and who blames her!

After being taken out for a surprise lunch on Friday by the office team and being showered with gifts and cards, Melanie saved her real celebrations for Saturday when she invited friends and family to a fabulous party in her garden.

With glorious sunshine, the drinks flowing and the caterers gone, we all enjoyed an afternoon of fun and laughter, but the highlight of the day has to be when Melanie claimed she could still do a headstand, and with no time to waste she proceeded to demonstrate her skill for us all.She has now jetted off with Grahame for some well deserved sunshine and a week of recovery.
Thank you for a fabulous day, and who says life's not fun at 50!

IOSH Managing Safely at The Royal Opera House
IOSH Managing Safely at The Royal Opera House

Steve Rands has just completed the first set of IOSH Managing Safely courses for The Royal Opera House in London.
Steve believes that any company that undertakes to provide Managing Safely for its managers and staff are not only providing them with a solid foundation in managerial health and safety responsibilities but also are going a long way to demonstrating that they as an organisation take the health, safety and welfare of employees seriously.
With the Royal Opera House, Steve took the time to fully understand their specific needs in a very unique environment. Before getting near the classroom, he went on attachment with the client to learn how they work in order that he was fully prepared for the wide range of delegates that would be attending.
With that newly acquired knowledge Steve was able to fully engage with the delegates and deliver the course in a way that used workplace examples relevant to them. Using images of the various work areas he was able to adapt the style of delivery for all areas of The Royal Opera House from front of house through to back stage, from scenery construction to the orchestra. This approach not only made the delegates engage more in group discussion but also assisted in them understanding the subject that was applicable to their own workplace.

Glendale Liverpool Ltd are a Joint Venture Company established in October 2006 and are owned by Glendale Managed Services and Liverpool City Council. With a £7.5 million budget, employee resource of 200 and a 12-year partnership arrangement, the company has been given the responsibility to manage and maintain the City's greenspaces including Parks, Cemeteries, Golf Courses and Sports & Recreational facilities.
Over the last three years the company has recruited and developed an exceptional and committed team of 25 people that include senior and middle managers, supervisors, technical and administrative employees broken down into Operational, HR, Finance, Performance & Compliance and Business Development Units who drive and support the business.
"The challenge that I faced once the organisational structure was finalised was to ensure we worked effectively as a team across all units and for all to understand each other's pressures, needs, roles and responsibilities. I was introduced to Sue Blackhurst at Jigsaw Training where I described what the company needed to address our challenges. Sue was very enthusiastic and passionate about the challenge and was able to propose a bespoke training programme to meet our needs. The decision to employ the services of Jigsaw was based on the confidence I had in Sue and the design of the programme.
"Since the programme was delivered I have seen significant improvement in the effectiveness of Glendale Liverpool in terms of teamwork, appreciation of each other and most importantly understanding the cross sectional behaviour of the team and the manner in the way they interact within units and as individuals.
"2010 is the year for Glendale Liverpool to effectively perform and develop the 'dream team'. With the help from Jigsaw Training I beleive a solid platform has been created to reach this aspiration."
